Decision by Maghreb Fez Steering Committee President Favors Deputy, Threatens Basketball Branch Stability
The steering committee of the Maghreb Fez basketball team issued a statement expressing its rejection and condemnation of a decision by the president of the Maghreb Fez steering committee. The decision involves delegating his first deputy, who is not a member of the team's office, to represent Maghreb Fez and vote on its behalf during the upcoming elective General Assembly of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation, scheduled for next Sunday.
The basketball branch's steering committee described this decision as strange and illogical. It highlighted that the current committee has been responsible for the team for four years, during a period marked by severe administrative and financial crises. The committee worked to restore balance through respectable administrative organization, achieving honorable sporting results, and revitalizing the team, despite a lack of support from the previous steering committee and silently overcoming obstacles with professionalism.
The statement affirmed that denying the current steering committee the right to represent the team, defend its interests, and vote in the Basketball Federation's General Assembly is an incomprehensible exclusion. It further stated that this decision threatens the team's stability and the continuity of the sports project built over several years. The steering committee added that any marginalization or placement under the guardianship of any party would not be accepted, holding the president of the steering committee fully responsible if the situation is not rectified before the General Assembly.
