Lille Coach on Ighaman's Injury: AFCON Participation Decision to be Coordinated

Bruno Genesio, head coach of French club Lille, provided an update on the health status of Moroccan international Hamza Ighaman, confirming that his player suffered an adductor muscle injury.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of Lille's Europa League match against Young Boys, Genesio stated: “Hamza left early in the Marseille match after feeling pain in his adductor muscle. As I always say, I am not a medical specialist, but what I can confirm is that the injury is in that area.”

He continued: “Regarding the duration of his absence, I cannot provide additional information at this time. The decision concerning his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations will be made in full coordination between the Moroccan national team coach and our technical and medical staff.”

Genesio added: “For us, this is an additional loss at the moment. I cannot say it is a long-term injury; these types of injuries are complex and unstable, and it is difficult to accurately determine the duration of absence.”
