Ecuadorian FA President Confirms March Friendly Against Morocco, Likely in Madrid
Ecuadorian Football Federation President Francisco Egas has confirmed that the national team will play a series of friendly matches in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including an anticipated clash against Morocco next March. Egas explained that the federation has already reserved the dates during the March international break for two matches: one against a European team and another against an African team. He noted that the Netherlands would be the European opponent, while Morocco has been agreed upon as the second opponent.
Speaking to local channel "dsports," the Ecuadorian FA President added that the venue for the match against Morocco has not yet been finalized, but the Spanish capital, Madrid, remains the most probable option, awaiting final confirmation in the coming weeks. These friendly matches are part of an intensive preparatory program, following Ecuador's conclusion of their qualification campaign and participation in previous friendly encounters, all aimed at achieving optimal readiness before the start of the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico in the summer of 2026.
