Amir Abdou: 'Morocco Will Go Far in AFCON, No Cause for Concern'
Amir Abdou, coach of Hassania Agadir, believes that the Moroccan national team is capable of going far in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, while also stating he will support his home country, Comoros.
Abdou told Al-Botola in a special statement: "Morocco breathes football. There are many fans, and there will be an exceptional atmosphere here in the region. I think this is positive for the country, and I wish the best for the organization of this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations."
He continued: "Agadir Stadium is a beautiful venue, with a capacity of between 43,000 and 44,000 seats. They have changed the pitch, and the training grounds are excellent. I have already experienced two editions of the Africa Cup of Nations: one in Cameroon and another in Ivory Coast, and this edition will be very beautiful, and I think it will be better than previous ones."
"There will be strong matches, with teams like Angola, Egypt, and Mozambique present. It will be a beautiful AFCON, and I believe that the Round of 16 and quarter-final matches will be held here in Agadir. I think the city is ready to host these teams."
He added: "The national team is very good (Comoros), and the opening match will be difficult. I will not be a fan of Morocco; I will be a fan of Comoros because I am of Comorian origin, but I wish them the best, and I know that Morocco will go far in this tournament, and believe me, they have a very good team, and I don't think there is anything to worry about them."
