Morocco to Learn World Cup Opponents Tomorrow: All You Need to Know About the Draw

Moroccan football fans are eagerly anticipating the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony, set to take place tomorrow, Friday, at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., USA. Starting at 6:00 PM (GMT+1), the draw will reveal the opponents for the "Atlas Lions." Morocco finds itself in Pot 2, following its 11th-place global ranking in November.

The 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark the first time 48 teams participate, following FIFA's decision to expand the number of contenders. The teams will be distributed across 12 groups, with each group comprising four nations. Following the group stage, teams will not advance directly to the Round of 16; instead, they will compete in a Round of 32. The top two teams from each group will qualify, alongside the eight best third-placed teams from all groups.

For the 2026 edition, FIFA has implemented a new rule aimed at preventing the top four teams in the world rankings – Spain, Argentina, France, and England – from facing each other before the semi-finals, provided they all secure the top spot in their respective groups.

Six qualification spots remain undetermined, with the final lineup of participating teams set to be completed next March. This will occur following the inter-confederation play-offs, which will see several teams qualify, in addition to the European play-offs, which will determine four qualifying nations.

FIFA has announced that the complete match schedule for all participating teams, including the host cities and stadiums for each fixture, will be unveiled the day after tomorrow, Saturday, starting at 6:00 PM (GMT+1).

Former United States President Donald Trump has decided to attend the World Cup draw ceremony, following an invitation from FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
