CAF Condemns Serious Safety Violations in AS FAR vs. Al Ahly Match, Refers Case to Disciplinary Committee
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed its strong condemnation of what it described as "serious violations of safety and security rules" that occurred during the match between Moroccan club AS FAR and Egyptian side Al Ahly. The game, played last Friday at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, ended in a 1-1 draw.
CAF confirmed that the incidents recorded have been officially referred to its Disciplinary Committee to initiate a comprehensive investigation and take appropriate decisions in accordance with the regulations governing continental competitions.
In its statement, the continental body called on all clubs and federations to fully adhere to disciplinary and safety procedures to ensure that matches proceed in a sporting and responsible atmosphere.
