Frequent visits by Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi to Spain had raised questions among Paris Saint-Germain fans regarding a potential future return to Real Madrid, according to Spanish newspaper AS.

Hakimi had left Real Madrid in the summer of 2020 for Inter Milan in a €40 million deal. This move was prompted by the difficulty of securing a regular starting spot for the Moroccan player due to Dani Carvajal's presence, and Real Madrid also benefited financially amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

He later moved to Paris Saint-Germain for more than €60 million, signing a contract that was set to run until 2026. Real Madrid had previously indicated to him that the doors would be open for his return if his contract with the French club expired and he became available as a free agent.

Hakimi had shown openness to a potential return to the Spanish capital when his contract renewal negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain stalled for a period. However, following Kylian Mbappé's departure, PSG was able to expand its salary cap and present an attractive offer to Hakimi. Convinced by the new project led by Luis Campos administratively and Luis Enrique technically, he agreed to extend his contract until 2029.

This development has, for now, ended Hakimi's immediate opportunity to return to Real Madrid. Nevertheless, his connection to the Spanish club remains evident, as highlighted by his recent visit to attend an Elche match, according to the Spanish newspaper.
