Regragui Reveals Hakimi's Injury Moment: "I Saw His Tears and Knew It Was Serious, But He Will Return Like a Beast"

National coach Walid Regragui spoke about the moment Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi sustained an injury during his club Paris Saint-Germain's match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Regragui, speaking in an interview with "Canal Football Club," recounted meeting Hakimi at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé after the CAF Awards ceremony. The player entered the room on a scooter, prompting the coach to joke, "The Golden Ball! You look taller today." Hakimi replied, "Perhaps because of the scooter," to which Walid added, "Or because you won the Golden Ball."

Regragui then addressed the moment of Hakimi's injury, stating: "When I saw his ankle, I asked Rachid (Benmahmoud), 'What do you think?' But when I saw him crying out of intense anger, I realized it was truly serious."

The national coach added: "I know Hakimi very well. When he returns, he will come back like a beast. We might argue a little on the pitch because of his great enthusiasm."

The Paris Saint-Germain star had been crowned the best African player of the year last Wednesday in Rabat, following an exceptional season with the Moroccan national team and his French club.
