AS FAR suffered a 1-0 defeat against hosts Young Africans of Tanzania in their CAF Champions League group stage opener. The match took place today, Saturday, at Amani Stadium in Zanzibar.

The winning goal for the Tanzanian side came in the 58th minute through striker Prince Dube, who capitalized on a defensive mix-up inside the penalty area to slot the ball past goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti.

Young Africans dominated much of the game, posing a greater threat and creating more scoring opportunities. They tested AS FAR's goal on several occasions, but Tagnaouti's brilliance, with crucial saves, kept his team in contention until the final minutes.

Despite AS FAR's improved performance at times and their attempts to find an equalizer, the final touch eluded them. Furthermore, a goal that appeared legitimate was disallowed for offside, sparking protests from the Moroccan team's bench.

With this result, AS FAR begins their group stage campaign with an away loss. They now look ahead to a crucial second-round encounter against Egyptian giants Al Ahly, while Young Africans secure their first three points in this season's continental competition.
