The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) issued a statement expressing its surprise and strong displeasure after discovering that player Lamine Yamal had undergone medical examinations on the very morning he was scheduled to join the national team camp, leading to his exclusion from the squad.

In its statement, the RFEF clarified the details of the decision to exempt Barcelona star Lamine Yamal from joining the national team camp in preparation for the upcoming matches against Georgia and Turkey. The federation noted that the player had undergone prior medical examinations without the knowledge of the national team's medical staff.

The statement read: "The medical staff expresses its surprise and dissatisfaction after learning at 13:47 on Monday, November 10, the official start day of the national team camp, that player Lamine Yamal underwent a medical procedure using radiofrequency technology on the same morning to treat groin pain he was experiencing."

The RFEF added: "This procedure was carried out without any prior notification to the national team's medical staff, who only received details of the operation via a report at 22:40 last night, recommending 7 to 10 days of rest. Given this situation, and to ensure the player's health, safety, and well-being, the Royal Spanish Football Federation has decided to exempt Yamal from participating in this international call-up."
