Santos: "We will treat our Champions League group like a mini-tournament; our goal is to collect as many points as possible."
Alexandre Dos Santos, coach of AS FAR, affirmed that he was not surprised by the CAF Champions League group stage draw, emphasizing that the current priority is a strong start against Young Africans away from home in Dar es Salaam.
Santos stated in comments published on the official CAF website: "Our group in the Champions League is very competitive and extremely strong. I believe every team has the potential to deliver a great tournament. Everyone wants to qualify, and expectations for a group like ours are high for our fans because it's a big challenge."
The coach described the group as a six-match decisive race, saying: "Facing Al Ahly, Young Africans, and JS Kabylie will be six high-level matches that allow us to deliver our best. We need very strong preparation, and we will treat the group as if it were a six-match mini-tournament, where every game is the most important."
Santos stressed the importance of the opening fixture for the first round, stating: "The first match will be against Young Africans. The most important thing is to prepare the team well to travel to Tanzania and play a strong game to win. Our exact goal is to approach every match with the aim of winning and overcoming the opponent."
The coach of the military team set a clear objective: "Our chance to qualify is the same as it was before the draw. We want to reach the quarterfinals after qualifying from the group stage."
He concluded: "The main goal is to collect as many points as possible and finish within the top two positions. The possibility of reaching the quarterfinals is shared among all teams, as all of them possess a strong history in the CAF Champions League."
