AS FAR Coach Addresses Controversial Goal Against FUS Rabat

AS FAR coach, Alexandre Santos, confirmed that the controversial goal against FUS Rabat resulted from a complex situation that caused confusion among players and the goalkeeper, explaining that there was a misunderstanding about the method of play at that moment.

He said: “In the locker room after the match, I heard there was confusion. The goalkeeper didn't receive the ball, we couldn't control it, and we didn't want to take it. Our player understood it was time to play. It was just a moment of confusion.”

Santos indicated that he did not wish to discuss the matter with the opposing team's technical staff, affirming that after the match, he questioned the ethical implications because he did not intend for what happened. He added that his team ultimately secured the win, suggesting that the issue might be related to missed opportunities: “If we had scored two or three goals, perhaps we wouldn't be discussing this.”

He concluded by stating: “The most important thing for me is to adhere to ethics.”
