U17 World Cup: Morocco Suffers "Catastrophic" 6-0 Defeat to Portugal

The Moroccan U17 national team suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat against their Portuguese counterparts on Thursday, in their second group stage match of the U17 World Cup.

Morocco's struggles began early, with João Araújo opening the scoring for Portugal in the 20th minute. Anísio Cabral then doubled the lead just two minutes later. Portugal's attacking prowess continued, as Matheus Meide scored the third goal in the 29th minute.

Before the end of the first half, Portugal was awarded a penalty in the 40th minute, which Matheus Meide converted into the fourth goal in the 44th minute, concluding the first half with a clean four-goal advantage.

At the start of the second half, José Neto extended Portugal's lead with a fifth goal in the 46th minute. The same player then scored his second and Portugal's sixth in the 60th minute, amidst a clear collapse from the Moroccan team.

This result complicates the national team's task of competing for a spot in the second round, as they await their crucial third match against New Caledonia.
