Mbappé: 'I Don't Understand Those Who Say the Goal is the Semi-Finals... We're Going to Win the World Cup'
Kylian Mbappé, captain of the French national team, affirmed that "Les Bleus" will enter the 2026 World Cup finals with the aim of winning the title, rejecting any notion of downplaying the team's ambitions or considering reaching the semi-finals a sufficient achievement.
The Real Madrid forward stated in media remarks: "The goal is to win the World Cup. We will go to the United States to win the World Cup. I don't understand the discourse coming from outside, that the goal is the semi-finals."
He added: "If the goal is the semi-finals, then when we reach that stage, will we go home? No! The goal is to win. It is everyone's dream."
Mbappé's statements came in response to some opinions that considered reaching the final four would be a satisfactory result for the French national team, especially given the strong competition expected in the upcoming edition of the World Cup.
