Haiti's Frantzdy Pierrot on World Cup Group with Morocco: 'We Go to Win'
Haiti international Frantzdy Pierrot acknowledged the difficulty of Group C in the World Cup, which includes Morocco, Brazil, and Scotland, emphasizing the strength of the anticipated competition.
Speaking to FIFA's official website, Pierrot stated: "In Haiti, football is king. It is a symbol of hope, pride, and unity. Our country has gone through difficult times, so when the national team shines on the pitch, smiles return to people's faces. Our presence in the World Cup gives our citizens hope and strength."
He continued: "I remember the day we qualified: thousands of people poured into the streets to celebrate, hugging each other, singing, and dancing. Usually, people stay in their homes due to gangs and violence, but on that day, they forgot all the problems of daily life."
Regarding his thoughts on Group C, which features Morocco, Brazil, and Scotland, Pierrot added: "We know that the group is very difficult because we are facing big and highly experienced teams. But we also believe in ourselves. We respect all opponents, but we are going to the World Cup to win, to represent Haiti with pride, and to show our passion and courage. As we say in our country: 'Unity is strength'."
On his national team's goal in the World Cup, Pierrot explained: "We want to make the Haitian people proud of us and show courage in every match. We may not be among the favorites, but the Haitian people are known for their bravery. We want to play with one heart, unity, and faith on football's biggest stage, and we hope to inspire a new generation of children that no dream is too big."
