Al-Salami on Al-Taamari's Action Against Switzerland: "Disregarding a Specific Game Plan Leads to Punishment"
Jordan national team coach Jamal Al-Salami sent a message to his player Mousa Al-Taamari following the latter's actions during yesterday's friendly match against Switzerland, which ended in a 4-1 defeat.
Speaking to the press after the 4-1 loss to Switzerland, Al-Salami stated: "The most important thing in football is for players to adhere to the coach's instructions and execute what is asked of them. When there is a specific game plan and it is not respected, you are punished. We still have time to correct our mistakes."
Al-Taamari had urged his teammates to push forward and press the opponent immediately after Jordan conceded the first goal in the 27th minute. This action deviated from the tactical instructions set by the coach.
Although the players responded to the request of the Rennes forward, this offensive gamble proved costly for the Jordanian national team. Switzerland exploited the significant spaces left by the players' eagerness between the attacking and midfield lines, scoring their second goal after a swift counter-attack that involved only three touches.
