Moroccan Referees Join FIFA Camp in USA Ahead of 2026 World Cup
The Moroccan referees selected to officiate at the 2026 FIFA World Cup have entered the final phase of their preparations, having departed for the United States to join the preparatory camps organized by FIFA ahead of the global competition.
Morocco's representation at the 2026 World Cup includes international referee Jalal Jayed as a center referee, alongside assistant referees Mustafa Akerkad and Zakaria El Barinsi. Hamza El Fariq will be among the officials assigned to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.
The Moroccan quartet will commence their training program at the camps designated by FIFA for the officiating teams participating in the World Cup. This phase will include physical and technical tests, as well as practical lectures aimed at standardizing refereeing interpretations before the matches begin.
The center referees and assistant referees will undergo their preparations in Miami, while Hamza El Fariq will join the group dedicated to VAR officials in Seattle, as part of a separate program tailored to the nature of their assigned duties during the tournament.
