Tuchel Advises England Players to Holiday in US-Like Time Zones Ahead of World Cup
England manager Thomas Tuchel has advised his players participating in the upcoming World Cup to spend their holidays in time zones similar to those in the United States, aiming to ensure optimal acclimatization before the tournament begins.
The BBC reported that several players followed Tuchel's recommendation, spending their summer breaks in the United States or the Caribbean region.
Twenty-one of the 26 players on England's squad are scheduled to arrive in Florida on Monday for a training camp in preparation for the World Cup. They will play two friendly matches against New Zealand and Costa Rica on June 6 and June 10, respectively.
Climate conditions are expected to significantly impact the tournament, with studies indicating that nearly a quarter of World Cup matches could be played in temperatures exceeding 26 degrees Celsius.
Adapting to time differences is also a crucial factor. England's training base is located in Kansas City, which is six hours behind British time. This is the same time difference as Dallas, where England will play their opening match against Croatia on June 17.
In contrast, the remaining two group stage matches against Ghana and Panama will be held in Boston and New Jersey, respectively, both of which are five hours behind British time.
To ensure players are fully prepared from the first day of the tournament, Tuchel requested that they travel westward during their post-season break before joining the national team camp.
