Santos: "Al-Fath Goalkeeper Had a Great Game; We Are Just One Point Behind Leaders Raja"
Alexander Santos, coach of FAR Rabat, expressed his dissatisfaction with the 1-1 draw against Fath Union Sport (FUS), emphasizing that his team will continue to fight for the top spot in the professional league until the very end.
Speaking at the press conference following the match, Santos said: “It was a wonderful collective performance, and an exceptional effort from the entire team. It's true that there were some moments, especially in the final third of the pitch and inside the opponent's penalty area, where we needed more effectiveness and quality to convert chances and score goals, but the FUS goalkeeper had a very great game.”
He continued: “We did almost everything; we had nearly 80 percent possession, created 12 scoring opportunities, hit the post once, and missed many chances. We played very well, but in the final touch to put the ball in the net, we lacked efficiency and wasted many opportunities.”
Santos added: “The team showed a wonderful and positive mentality and humility, because the biggest challenge after reaching the CAF Champions League final was to approach this match with humility, a strong desire to win, and high ambition. We showed all of that, but unfortunately, the second goal didn't come.”
He went on: “I feel that the result was not fair; we lost two points. However, there are five teams competing for the league title, and all teams drop points from time to time. We must continue our journey and our work, and believe that we will win the next match to continue competing for the top spot.”
Santos concluded: “We are now in second place, just one point behind leaders Raja. Therefore, the result is not positive, but the performance was very positive, and all we lacked was the goal that would have given us the win.”
