
CAF Champions League: AS FAR Fails to Clinch Title After 1-1 Draw with Sundowns
FAR Rabat failed to win the CAF Champions League title after drawing 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the final on Sunday evening. Sundowns had won the first leg 1-0.
The match, held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, saw the Moroccan military team dominate the first half, creating several scoring opportunities. Their efforts paid off when captain Rabie Hrimat converted a penalty in the 40th minute, giving FAR Rabat the lead.
Just moments before the end of the first half, Teboho Mokoena scored the equalizer for Mamelodi Sundowns in the 45+7th minute.
After the break, FAR Rabat intensified their pressure on Mamelodi Sundowns' defense. In the 75th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to coach Alexander Santos's side. However, Hrimat failed to convert it into a goal. The match concluded with the South African team winning 2-1 on aggregate over both legs.
