Wahbi on Morocco's World Cup Strategy: "I Don't Think Ancelotti Would Reveal How He'll Play"
National coach Mohamed Wahbi stated that the Moroccan national team's playing style at the World Cup will be similar to their last two friendly matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, affirming that he will not disclose the exact approach they will adopt for the tournament.
Responding to a question about Morocco's playing style at the World Cup, Wahbi jokingly remarked: "Should I call Ancelotti to reveal the playing style we will adopt? I don't think he would reveal how he will play, but it's clear they will analyze us thoroughly, and they will analyze me too."
He added: "I prefer a tactical playing style with flexible (hybrid) positioning, and I don't like rigid plans. I have always said that I want a team that knows how to suffer when it needs to, avoids random mistakes, and at the same time knows how to attack when required, being fully aware of what it's doing."
He continued: "In terms of playing style, I believe we will be closer to what we showed in the last two matches with the national team, compared to how things were in the Africa Cup of Nations, because we are not the same coach. However, I cannot say more at this time."
Wahbi concluded: "Our goal is to be effective. It's not because we are playing against Brazil that we will spend the entire match defending, nor because we are playing against Scotland or Haiti that we will spend all our time attacking. Even Brazil is a very strong team when given space to attack. I want a team ready for all possible scenarios."
