The ninth edition of the Sports Journalists' Golf Cup, organized in partnership with the Agadir Communal Council and with the support of the Souss-Massa Regional Council and the Agadir Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council, lived up to its promises. The foreign journalists' familiarity and interest in golf further underscored the event's success.

The Royal Golf Club Agadir, a key supporter of the event, hosted all activities related to the Sports Journalists' Golf Cup, encompassing theoretical, practical, training, and competitive aspects.

The competitive segment saw Spanish journalist José Jesús Minguez from "Marca" newspaper emerge victorious, claiming the title of the ninth edition. Said Laamarti from Tamouda 24 website secured second place, while Elias El Battahi from 360 website finished third.

Beyond its international scope, with journalists participating from Spain and France, the ninth edition of the Sports Journalists' Golf Cup in Agadir also featured a strong local presence, with nearly thirty Moroccan journalists from various media outlets taking part.

The ninth edition, held from May 21 to 24, 2026, also featured a series of parallel activities. These included media meetings with local and regional officials, such as Moulay Mustapha Boudrka and El Bachir Ben Hammad, Deputy Presidents of the Agadir Communal Council, and Abdelhak Chehli, Vice President of the Regional Tourism Council. These sessions aimed to provide participating journalists with insights into ongoing projects, their positive impact, and the environmental, sports, and social legacy that Agadir is developing, thanks to the significant support from the Agadir Communal Council for the sports sector and promising future prospects.

The meeting with Abdelhak Chehli, Vice President of the Regional Tourism Council, was an opportunity to highlight the tourism sector's achievements and the crucial role of sport as a driver for tourism development. It also showcased the tremendous efforts and fieldwork undertaken by the Regional Tourism Council, under the presidency of Salah Eddine Ben Hamman, to support various sports activities that positively impact the city and the region. Additionally, participants visited several sports and cultural facilities in Agadir.

Among the parallel activities was the organization of the 2nd Photojournalism Award (named in memory of Ali El Montassir), in partnership with the Agadir Photography Club. Seven photojournalists participated, submitting a total of 16 photographs. Issa Essaouri from "Le Matin" newspaper won the first prize, valued at 2000 dirhams. Salma Saghir from "Podium Sport" website took second place, receiving 1500 dirhams, while Mohamed Iftahi from "Al Bayane" newspaper secured third place with a prize of 1000 dirhams.

The 9th Sports Journalists' Golf Cup concluded with an honoring ceremony held at a local hotel. The event celebrated the winners, along with sports and media personalities and various stakeholders, in recognition of their consistent efforts to support sports, community, and tourism initiatives at local, regional, and national levels.
