FIFA Allocates Massive Prize Money for 2026 World Cup, Champion to Receive $50 Million
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has allocated a massive budget of $871 million for prize money to the national teams participating in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, kicking off on June 11.
According to the "RMC" network, this budget represents an increase of more than $100 million compared to what was announced last December, reflecting the significant incentives FIFA is offering to participating teams.
All teams participating in the World Cup will receive financial sums, regardless of their results, with teams eliminated from the group stage guaranteed at least $12.5 million (approximately €10.7 million).
As teams progress through the knockout stages, the value of the prize money will gradually increase, although FIFA has not yet revealed the specific details for the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
The champion of the 2026 World Cup will receive a substantial prize of $50 million (approximately €43 million).
In this context, FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated after the organization's conference in Vancouver: "FIFA is proud to have the strongest financial position in its history, which allows it to help all member associations in an unprecedented way, and this is an additional example of how FIFA's resources are reinvested in football."
It is worth noting that the 2026 edition will feature 48 teams for the first time in World Cup history, which will increase the costs and travel expenses that national federations will incur between the three host countries.
