Roberto Martinez Outlines Special Program for PSG Quartet Ahead of 2026 World Cup
Portugal coach Roberto Martinez has unveiled an exceptional preparatory program for the Paris Saint-Germain quartet – Vitinha, João Neves, Nuno Mendes, and Gonçalo Ramos – in anticipation of their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
This initiative aims to ensure the players' readiness following their involvement in the Champions League final against English side Arsenal, scheduled to take place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, on May 30.
The four players will be granted a seven-day rest period after the continental final, before subsequently joining the Portuguese national team camp.
Martinez clarified that this arrangement's protocol allows the players sufficient time for a brief holiday with their families before shifting their focus to the upcoming national assignment. The national coach stated: "The protocol is very clear, where players have seven days to relax and spend time with their families, and prepare for the next goal, which is our national team."
The quartet is expected to integrate into collective training sessions and potentially feature in an international friendly match against Nigeria on June 10, as part of the final stages of their World Cup preparations.
The 2026 World Cup competition is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, with Portugal set to compete in Group 11, which includes the national teams of DR Congo, Uzbekistan, and Colombia.
