Arbeloa Backs Florentino Perez in La Liga 'Theft' Claims
Álvaro Arbeloa, a coach at Real Madrid, has endorsed the recent statements made by club president Florentino Pérez, who asserted that the Royal Club had been "robbed of seven" La Liga titles.
Speaking on Wednesday morning, Arbeloa clarified that these allegations are closely linked to the ongoing corruption case against Barcelona, known as the "Negreira case." He added that any Real Madrid fan would share the president's perspective on these events.
The roots of this crisis trace back to corruption accusations leveled against Barcelona, concerning alleged payments made over 17 years to José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the Referees' Technical Committee.
In this regard, Álvaro Arbeloa stated: "Of course, we all know what has happened over the last twenty years, and certainly there are things we don't know yet, as it is neither legal nor logical for us, participants in this competition, what is going on. It is astonishing that Real Madrid is the only one who wants to adhere to the law in football, a feeling shared by all the team's fans."
Arbeloa also indicated that Pérez's stance stems from his defense of the club members' interests, emphasizing that Real Madrid is treated differently from other clubs worldwide.
In this context, the coach explained: "Any Real Madrid fan who listened to the president yesterday will agree that he is defending the interests of the club members, and will agree that the club is treated differently from other clubs."
Conversely, Barcelona has denied any wrongdoing in the corruption case, announcing that it is considering legal action against Florentino Pérez in response to his statements.
These developments come as Pérez announced the club's intention to send a comprehensive file to UEFA, detailing complaints related to what he described as the biggest corruption case in history.
The Real Madrid coach believes that more scandals are yet to be uncovered, reflecting a state of escalating tension between the two Spanish football giants amidst ongoing judicial investigations and continuous public debate between the parties.
