Othmane Maamma: "Happy at Watford... We Must Come Back Strong Next Season"
Moroccan international Othmane Maamma, a player for English club Watford, expressed his delight at winning the team's Young Player of the Season award, while also acknowledging that the season did not meet the expectations of the club and its fans.
Speaking to Watford's official website, Maamma said: "It's a good feeling, I'm happy to play for Watford, but the season wasn't good, and we need to work to be ready for next season."
The Moroccan winger did not feature for the team at the start of the season due to his participation with the Moroccan national team in the U20 World Cup, making his Watford debut in November.
Despite this, Maamma quickly made his mark, scoring his first goal for the team in a match against Birmingham City, which Watford lost 2-1 in early November.
He added: "The fans helped me settle in, but it's hard to improve when you suffer a lot of injuries."
He continued: "I understand the fans' frustration because we have a good team with high quality, but thank you very much for welcoming me."
The Moroccan player concluded his first season with Watford having played 25 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals, and expressing his ambition to deliver even better performances next season.
