Mourad El Raji (Olympique Dcheira Coach): "Lack of Experience Cost Us Points Against Kawkab Marrakech"
Mourad El Raji, coach of Olympique Dcheira, stated that his team suffered a decline in performance during the second half, which led to their 2-1 loss against Kawkab Marrakech in Week 18 of the Professional League.
During the post-match press conference, he said: “The second half saw a decline in performance, as the opposing team relied on long crosses and direct play, which enabled them to reach our areas and create some difficulties. When we started making substitutions, we conceded the second goal.”
He added: “Despite that, we didn't give up and continued to fight until the last minute. The absence of the captain was impactful given his role in motivating the players, but the elements who came in played a good match and performed what was asked of them.”
El Raji continued: “Kawkab Marrakech benefited from the support of their fans, who played an important role in achieving the victory, but we will continue to work until the last match to collect as many points as possible, even though we are losing important points in tough matches.”
He explained: “The experience factor plays a big role, as about 90% of our players do not have enough experience in the first division, and we have not made significant signings with experienced players who could add value.”
He further elaborated: “In the last four matches, we were always ahead in the score, whether against FAR Rabat, RS Berkane, Union Touarga, or today against Kawkab Marrakech, but we failed to maintain the lead, and this reflects a lack of experience.”
He concluded by saying: “If we had scored the second goal, it would have given us a great morale boost to maintain the victory and perhaps add more goals, especially since we missed several chances. I congratulate my team's players on the effort they put in, and I wish Kawkab Marrakech success for the remainder of the season.”
