Dmiaai Criticizes Players Despite Win Over Olympique Dcheira: "Unfortunately, We Are a Professional Team But Sometimes We Revert to Amateurism"
Hicham Dmiaai, coach of Kawkab Marrakech, expressed his relief after his team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Olympique Dcheira in matchday 18 of the Professional League. However, he simultaneously acknowledged that the performance was not up to the required standard.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Dmiaai stated, "Praise be to God for this victory, it was a difficult one." He noted that the start of the match was very poor, with players lacking the necessary focus.
The Kawkab coach added with a critical tone, "Unfortunately, we are a professional team, but sometimes we revert to amateurism." This was in reference to the team's inconsistent performance, particularly after delivering a strong display against AS FAR, only to struggle in subsequent matches.
Dmiaai explained that he had warned his players during the week about the need to learn lessons from previous matches, especially after facing RS Berkane. He affirmed that the team was aware of the importance of securing a win to move away from the relegation zone and playoff matches.
He also emphasized that the problem was not just individual but collective, stating that poor performance affected several players, in addition to a failure to properly manage the flow of the game from the outset.
Dmiaai spoke about the difficulty of the encounter against Olympique Dcheira, whom he described as a "stubborn" team. He mentioned that his side lost most of the duels at the start of the match, which significantly complicated their task.
Despite this, he praised his players' reaction after conceding a goal, explaining that the team tried to get back into the game, even though their performance remained disorganized, especially during the first half, with clear laxity in the defensive line.
Dmiaai concluded by noting that the changes made at halftime, both in terms of instructions and focus, were crucial. He stressed the importance of tactical discipline and avoiding counter-attacks, which ultimately contributed to securing the victory.
