Hakimi's Injury Raises Concern: Player Undergoes Further Tests After Unsettling Initial Results
French media sources have reported that the medical examinations undergone by Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi, following an injury to the back of his thigh during Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League semi-final first-leg match against Bayern Munich last Tuesday, were not reassuring.
According to RMC, the initial tests conducted on the player on Wednesday morning were unsettling, ruling out the possibility of simple muscle cramps. This has heightened concerns within the Parisian club regarding the nature of the injury.
Hakimi is expected to undergo additional examinations this afternoon to determine the full extent of the injury, and whether it is merely a muscle strain or a more complex issue.
Should a minor injury (muscle strain) be confirmed, the medical staff will initiate an urgent program to prepare him for the return leg against Bayern, scheduled for next Wednesday in Germany. However, his participation remains uncertain at this moment.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery is a strong candidate to replace Hakimi should he be unavailable, given his ability to competently play at right-back.
Hakimi had fallen to the ground in the 89th minute of the match between Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich after a challenge on Konrad Laimer. He appeared to be in discomfort, clutching the back of his right thigh, and was forced to continue the match with difficulty as coach Luis Enrique had already exhausted all substitutions.
For his part, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique offered a brief statement during the post-match press conference, saying: "I don't know anything about Hakimi's condition, tomorrow we will see his situation."
The Moroccan international's potential participation in the second leg remains in doubt, pending the decisive medical test results expected in the coming hours.
