Genk Coach Praises El Ouahdi: 'He Never Stops Giving,' Replacement Will Be Difficult
Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi's outstanding performances for Genk this season have earned significant praise from his coach, Steven Defour, who highlighted the player's decisive role.
In press statements, Defour said: "Genk played as we have seen many times this season: a sterile performance, conceding a goal from nothing. El Ouahdi is the decisive player."
Praising the player's capabilities, he added: "This player never stops giving, even in the second playoff match. These are amazing numbers for a right-back."
Defour continued, pondering: "Just imagine how much worse Genk's season would have been without El Ouahdi."
He also hinted at the player's potential departure at the end of the season, stating: "Genk's management faces a difficult task to replace him next season."
Regarding El Ouahdi's future, Defour revealed interest from European clubs, adding: "There is clear interest. I read that PSV Eindhoven is currently the closest option, but I believe he should aspire to something beyond that."
He concluded: "If I were him, I would look at a mid-table team in England or Germany."
