Brentford Makes Initial €15m Bid for El Ouahdi Amid Crystal Palace, Everton Interest
Growing interest in Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi, the right-back for Belgian club Genk, continues after he entered the radar of several Premier League clubs for the upcoming transfer window.
A report published by the English website "SportsBoom" revealed that Brentford has made an official move to sign the player, placing him among their priorities to strengthen the right flank as part of their strategy to acquire young talents capable of contributing in the medium and long term.
Interest is not limited to Brentford, as Crystal Palace has also identified El Ouahdi as a potential alternative in anticipation of a possible big-money departure for their star Daniel Muñoz. Club scouts have reportedly been closely monitoring the player in several recent home matches for Genk.
Meanwhile, Everton is also considering entering the race, seeking a right-back with strong physical attributes and consistent performance. Internal discussions are reportedly underway regarding opening negotiations with the player's representatives in the near future.
Genk holds a strong negotiating position thanks to the new contract El Ouahdi signed in September 2024, which runs until June 2028. This gives the Belgian club a clear advantage in setting their financial terms. Reports suggest that Genk will not part with their star for less than €25 million, with the potential for the deal to rise to €30 million through add-ons.
In contrast, Brentford has submitted an initial offer of €15 million, plus an additional €6 million in variables. The club has also held verbal discussions with the player's entourage regarding a weekly salary of £45,000, though no official agreement has been reached yet.
