PSV Eindhoven Intensifies Efforts to Sign Zakaria El Ouahdi, Top Summer Target
Dutch club PSV Eindhoven is planning to sign Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi, currently with Belgian side Genk, during the upcoming summer transfer window. According to Dutch website "Headliner," Eindhoven's management views El Ouahdi as an ideal option, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding the future of American Sergino Dest, who is expected to leave the club in the next transfer market. PSV officials have been closely monitoring the Moroccan player following his impressive performances since the start of the season, during which he has participated in 31 matches, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists.
El Ouahdi recently shone again this week, opening the scoring early for Genk just four minutes into their match, contributing to a dominant 3-0 victory over Gent in the Belgian League.
The same report indicates that PSV's Sporting Director, Earnest Stewart, watched the player from the stands during Genk's Europa League clash against Dinamo Zagreb, where El Ouahdi is seen as a potential successor to Dest. Ajax also attended the same match, though their interest was focused on a different player.
Interest in El Ouahdi is not limited to PSV, as he is also being monitored by French clubs Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon, owing to his remarkable performances this season. The player's contract with Genk runs until mid-2027, and his market value is estimated at approximately 18 million euros, a figure expected to rise if he continues his impressive form in the coming months.
