AS Reports: Real Madrid Cuts Ties with Spanish Federation, Deems La Liga "Rigged" Over Refereeing
Spanish newspaper "AS" reported that Real Madrid's management has severed all communication with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) due to disagreements over refereeing and its impact on the team's performance in La Liga.
The newspaper confirmed that the club's general director, José Ángel Sánchez, had participated in several meetings aimed at developing a new system for Spanish referees. However, he reportedly boycotted the crucial final stages, refusing to sign the agreement with the RFEF.
The same source clarified that Real Madrid's management is content with not having participated in the agreement for the new Spanish refereeing system. The club has deemed "La Liga rigged" this season, citing refereeing decisions that they believe have cost their team valuable points.
Disagreements between Real Madrid and the RFEF intensified following their La Liga match against Girona yesterday, Friday, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The club complained about the officiating, considering themselves disadvantaged by certain decisions that impacted the final result.
