Lamine Yamal and Barcelona Goalkeeping Coach Resolve On-Flight Altercation
Barcelona player Lamine Yamal and goalkeeping coach José Ramón de la Fuente have resolved their recent disagreement. The two parties reached a full reconciliation during the team's return journey to Catalonia, following a match that saw clear tension in its final moments.
Reports indicated that the charged atmosphere significantly eased, to the extent that Yamal and the coach exchanged jokes while on the plane.
The incident began when De la Fuente shouted loudly at the player after Yamal lost possession twice in quick succession just before the final whistle against Atlético Madrid in La Liga last Saturday. This prompted Yamal to respond sharply, questioning the instructions, stating: "What do you want me to do?" The situation also saw the player ignore attempts by head coach Hansi Flick to calm him down, instead preferring to point his hand towards the goalkeeping coach in an expression of his anger.
Radio station "Cadena SER" and newspaper "AS" reported that the disagreement did not last long, thanks to the rapprochement between the two parties on the return journey. In a related context, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick indicated that he initially did not understand the reasons behind Yamal's outburst.
