
Morocco Defeats Paraguay 2-1 in Second World Cup Warm-Up Match
The Moroccan national team defeated Paraguay 2-1 in a friendly match held this Tuesday evening at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
The first half saw attempts from the "Atlas Lions" to threaten Paraguay's goal, but these efforts did not result in goals, and the half ended scoreless.
After the break, Bilal El Khannouss successfully found the net in the 48th minute, following a precise pass from Achraf Hakimi, giving the national squad the lead against Paraguay.
Mohamed Wahbi's side continued to search for opportunities to add a second goal, which came through Naël El Aynaoui in the 53rd minute.
The national coach made four substitutions in the 66th minute: Brahim Díaz replaced Bilal El Khannouss, Zakaria El Ouahdi came on for Achraf Hakimi, Ayoub El Kaabi took the place of Soufiane Rahimi, and Amine Adli was introduced for Yassine Jassim.
Wahbi made further changes in the 81st minute, with Soufiane El Karouani replacing Anas Salah Eddine, Abde Ezzalzouli coming on for Shamseddine Talbi, and Rabie Hrimat entering the field instead of Samir El Mourabit.
Paraguay managed to reduce the deficit in the 84th minute through Omar Alderete, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside. However, Gustavo Caballero scored a valid goal in the 87th minute.
This match is part of the "Atlas Lions'" preparations for the 2026 World Cup, where the Moroccan national team is placed in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti.
