Iñaki Williams Recalled to Ghana Squad for Austria and Germany Friendlies
Ghana's technical staff has recalled Athletic Bilbao captain Iñaki Williams for the upcoming friendly matches against Austria and Germany during the FIFA international window. The forward makes his return to the "Black Stars" after an enforced absence, having missed the team's services during the previous international breaks in October and November due to injury.
Ghana will face a strong challenge against Austria in Vienna on March 27, before traveling to Stuttgart to play Germany on March 30. These preparatory camps are crucial for Williams' international career, as they represent the last opportunity for players to secure a place in the final squad that will represent Ghana at the upcoming World Cup finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
In his professional career, Williams recently reached 500 official matches with his Spanish club, Athletic Bilbao. He holds an international record of 25 appearances for Ghana, scoring two goals. He previously represented Spain at U21 level in 17 matches and also played one senior international match for Spain under coach Vicente del Bosque before deciding to switch his national allegiance and join Ghana.
