Williams: "Playing Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia is Bad"
Iñaki Williams, captain of Athletic Bilbao, has criticized the decision to host the Spanish Super Cup in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Williams stated that "playing in Saudi Arabia is a bad thing," ahead of their semi-final clash against Barcelona on January 7 in Jeddah.
He expressed concern for the fans of the participating clubs, noting, "Moving a national competition to another country is not easy for the supporters, whose travel is not facilitated."
Williams also highlighted personal difficulties, as he is expecting his first child this week. He remarked, "Having to leave my wife and son is very difficult, even though it's a requirement of the profession."
Despite his criticisms and personal circumstances, Williams affirmed his commitment to the tournament, stating, "I am at the club's disposal and will try to deliver the best possible Super Cup."
