Nassi: 'I Didn't Understand Why They Went Back to a Distant Foul for the Second Goal'
Wydad AC player Walid Nassi expressed his confusion regarding the decision to disallow the goal he scored in the final minutes of his team's match against Olympique Safi, during the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.
Speaking after the match, Nassi stated that the encounter was evenly balanced, noting that the opposing team played well and managed to retain possession for several periods. However, he affirmed that Wydad succeeded in creating a number of opportunities throughout the game.
The player added that he did not understand "why they went back to a distant foul in the play from which the winning goal was scored," a goal that was subsequently disallowed after a VAR review. He explained that such decisions remain part of football.
Nassi continued by stating that the team would turn the page on the first-leg match and focus on the return fixture, emphasizing Wydad's ambition to secure qualification in the upcoming game.
He concluded by affirming that the team would strive to give their all in the second leg to secure their passage to the semi-finals.
