UEFA Appoints French Referee Turpin for Manchester City vs. Real Madrid Clash
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has assigned French referee Clément Turpin to officiate the upcoming UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg match between Manchester City and Real Madrid, scheduled for next Tuesday.
Turpin will lead the officiating team for this highly anticipated clash, which pits the English and Spanish giants against each other in a decisive encounter to determine who advances to the quarter-finals of the continental competition.
Turpin's assistant referees will be Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages, with Willy Delajod serving as the fourth official. For the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, Jérôme Brisard will be in charge, assisted by Bastian Dechepy, ensuring the widely anticipated match adheres to strict European officiating standards.
This match will mark the eleventh occasion the French referee has officiated a game involving Real Madrid and his eighth for Manchester City. Turpin also has prior experience overseeing direct confrontations between the two clubs, having previously refereed two knockout stage matches between them. This appointment reflects UEFA's confidence in his ability to manage such high-stakes encounters.
