AC Milan Targets €70 Million Champions League Boost for Summer Signings
Italian club AC Milan anticipates securing a minimum of €65 to €70 million in additional revenue should the team successfully qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Club estimates indicate that these funds will be directly allocated to bolster the squad during the upcoming transfer window, providing the management with significant financial flexibility to address the technical staff's needs.
These financial projections encompass various income streams, primarily direct prize money from UEFA, alongside revenues from San Siro stadium, marketing returns, and commercial bonuses associated with participation in Europe's premier club competition. Expectations suggest that participation fees alone could generate between €18 and €20 million, while the club also anticipates receiving €20 to €30 million from television broadcasting rights.
These financial aspirations are set to strengthen the Italian club's negotiating position in the transfer market. Notably, Milan invested approximately €160 million in player acquisitions last summer, despite not having qualified for the Champions League at that time. This reflects the management's strategic approach to spending, aimed at enhancing the team's technical competitiveness and ensuring sustainable revenue growth through consistent continental participation.
In their most recent Champions League appearance during the 2024-2025 season, Milan collected €61.3 million from UEFA, even though their campaign concluded in the play-off round against Dutch side Feyenoord. Through their anticipated qualification, the club aims to cover the costs of new signings using a robust and stable revenue base, thereby mitigating traditional financial pressures.
