Sofyan Amrabat Begins Second Phase of Ankle Injury Rehabilitation in Seville
Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat began the second phase of his ankle injury recovery program on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Real Betis' training facilities in Seville. The training session at the Luis del Sol Sports City marked the player's return to running exercises on the pitch, alongside physical training in the gym, following surgery he underwent over a month ago.
Following the injury he sustained in late November, the Andalusian club's midfielder underwent surgery and arthroscopy. This was a result of a strong blow he received during a Europa League encounter against Dutch club FC Utrecht, in an incident that involved a collision with his teammate Isco. Despite Amrabat's participation in two matches for the Moroccan national team during the Africa Cup of Nations finals between late December and early January, his persistent pain prevented him from continuing to play normally.
Under his dedicated program, Amrabat is currently continuing individual training under the supervision of Real Betis' medical services. If his physical indicators remain positive, he will begin ball work as a prelude to rejoining the main squad. However, the club has not yet set a specific timetable for his return to competitive action, preferring to exercise caution to ensure his full recovery before re-engaging in competitive matches.
