Arbeloa: "La Liga Not Over, 36 Points Remain, We Will Fight to the End"
Álvaro Arbeloa, Real Madrid's coach, expressed his determination not to surrender following the team's second consecutive La Liga defeat, a 1-0 loss to Getafe, which temporarily cost them the top spot in the league.
Speaking at a press conference at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Arbeloa stated: "We haven't lost La Liga yet. There are 36 points remaining, and our only goal is to fight for every one of them. We will not throw in the towel; we believe a four-point deficit can be overcome. Real Madrid never gives up."
The Spanish coach added that his team "deserved at least one goal" against Getafe, after clear opportunities were squandered by Vinicius Junior, Antonio Rüdiger, and Rodrygo.
Arbeloa admitted that "the outlook is currently bleak," but he emphasized that the players had not held back their efforts, and that improvement was his personal responsibility. He continued: "We cannot make excuses for the absence of Mbappé or Bellingham; the players will regain their fitness and will help us a lot. I understand the criticism regarding the performance, but we deserved goals today."
Arbeloa also commented on the late red card shown to substitute Franco Mastantuono, noting that the referee's report mentioned the player being subjected to verbal abuse, though the exact reason for the sending off remained unclear.
