De la Fuente on Spain-Argentina Finalissima in Qatar: "Since we don't know when the conflict will end, the solution is to find another venue"
Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente has proposed an alternative solution for the final between "La Roja" and Argentina, following Qatar's announcement to suspend all sports competitions until further notice due to escalating tensions in the Middle East region.
Speaking to "Radio Nacional" about potential solutions for the match, De la Fuente stated: "Negotiations are underway, and as a society, the priority is to stop the conflict. However, as long as we are immersed in it and do not know when it will end, the solution, since it's impossible to host it there, will be to search for another venue if available."
The "Finalissima" match between Spain and Argentina was anticipated as a major football celebration in Qatar. All 88,966 tickets were sold in record time, and all arrangements were ready at Lusail Stadium. However, the escalating conflict has cast a shadow over these preparations, leaving the event's fate uncertain.
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) had announced the suspension of sports competitions and tournaments. In response, organizers are working to find alternative solutions to ensure the tournament takes place as scheduled.
