Enrique Declines Comment on Hakimi Case: "The Matter is in the Hands of Justice"
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique refused to comment on the news that his Moroccan international player Achraf Hakimi has been referred to trial on charges of rape.
During the press conference preceding the second leg of the UEFA Champions League playoff qualifier against Monaco, Enrique was asked: "Achraf Hakimi will be tried for rape. Will this affect the team from a sporting perspective? And will he continue in his role as second captain?"
The Spanish coach responded, stating: "This matter is in the hands of justice," offering only this comment without providing any additional details.
It is worth noting that Hakimi announced on Tuesday morning, via his official account on the "X" platform, that he would be tried for rape, reiterating his categorical denial of these accusations.
The Nanterre public prosecutor's office opened an investigation into the case in 2023 after a young woman filed a complaint accusing the player of rape, before confirming today that the file has been referred to trial.
