Alemany Clarifies Lookman's Defensive Adaptation
Mateu Alemany, Sporting Director of Atlético Madrid, has issued statements regarding new signing Ademola Lookman, affirming the player's commitment to the coach's defensive instructions.
Alemany explained that Lookman, considered the club's "star signing," is facing adaptation challenges due to the limited time available for training on new defensive setups.
Alemany noted that Lookman arrived from a club known for its high defensive requirements, indicating he is accustomed to tactical discipline.
In this regard, he stated: "He comes from a very demanding club defensively. He has barely been able to train. When time is available, they will adjust the defensive situations."
In a related context, the Sporting Director addressed a controversial gesture recently made by Lookman during his substitution in a match. Alemany attributed this action to the intense suffering and immersion in the match atmosphere from the VIP box, stating: "In the box, we make many gestures because we suffer a lot. I live the match intensely in the box."
Alemany reiterated: "Lookman will follow the coach's instructions."
These statements came ahead of an anticipated match against Espanyol, at a time when questions are increasing regarding the player's adaptation to the new playing style.
