Five Judicial Convictions in Spain Over Racist Incidents Against Vinicius Jr.
Spanish authorities have announced five judicial convictions against individuals who committed racist acts and insults against Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr. These convictions, issued between June 2024 and June 2025, are the first of their kind in Spain related to racist incidents targeting a football player.
These rulings encompassed various incidents, including verbal abuse during matches, online comments, and the hanging of a doll representing the player. The list of convicted individuals included three Valencia CF fans, one person for online insults, one man in Palma, five people in Valladolid, and four members of the "Frente Atlético" ultras group.
In the same context, four members of the "Frente Atlético" group avoided prison after reaching an agreement with the prosecution, resulting in fines and penalties of exclusion from the player and stadiums. These convictions underscore the efforts being made to combat racism in Spanish football.
