Nagelsmann Expresses Regret Over Ter Stegen Injury, Doubts World Cup Participation
Julian Nagelsmann, the German national team coach, has expressed doubts about calling up Marc-André ter Stegen for this summer's World Cup due to the goalkeeper's current health status, as reported by "Sempre Barça."
Nagelsmann also conveyed his deep regret over what he described as Ter Stegen's "tragic injury," affirming that the situation is "unfavorable" for a call-up at present, though he has not entirely ruled him out. Nagelsmann stated: «There are three things to consider regarding the goalkeeper position. It's a tragic injury (for Ter Stegen), which I am very sorry about. I will never completely rule him out because it's his role. We have to make the right decision for him and for us. At the moment, the situation is unfavorable.»
Ter Stegen has only featured in three matches this season, having missed most of the first half due to undergoing back surgery. After his move to Montilivi, the player made two appearances before suffering a hamstring tear, significantly diminishing his chances of regaining fitness before the tournament, with a slim possibility of returning to action before April.
