
Rennes Defeats PSG, Giving Lens Chance to Go Top of Ligue 1
The 22nd round of the French League witnessed a resounding surprise as league leaders Paris Saint-Germain suffered a bitter 3-1 defeat against hosts Stade Rennais at Roazhon Park.
PSG entered the match attempting to impose their usual rhythm through possession, but they encountered a formidable defensive setup from Rennes.
Jordanian star Moussa Al-Tamari opened the scoring for Rennes in the 34th minute. In the second half, Rennes continued to exploit the spaces created by PSG's attacking urgency. Esteban Le Boul succeeded in adding the second goal in the 69th minute, and before PSG could recover, Breel Embolo sealed their fate with the third goal in the 81st minute. PSG's sole goal came from Ousmane Dembélé in the 71st minute.
With this result, Paris Saint-Germain's points tally remains at 51, and they are now threatened with losing their Ligue 1 top spot to Lens (49 points), who will visit Paris FC tomorrow, Saturday. Rennes, meanwhile, sits in fifth place with 34 points.
