Al-Hilal Announces Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal Funded Benzema's Transfer and Six Other Deals
Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal's name has once again taken center stage in Saudi sports after Al-Hilal Club confirmed he funded the transfer of French star Karim Benzema. This move has reignited discussions about the role of "golden sponsors" in "superstar" deals within the Roshn League.
According to Al-Hilal, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, a golden member of the club, directly intervened to support the deal. The club's board of directors took the initiative to thank him for his financial contribution in finalizing the signing of Benzema, who is considered one of the most prominent stars in global football.
Al-Hilal also stated that Al-Waleed bin Talal covered all of the club's deals during the recent winter transfer window, specifying: "He covered the full value of 7 deals concluded by Al-Hilal during the winter transfer window for the 2025/2026 season."
Benzema joined Al-Hilal on a free transfer, signing a one-and-a-half-season contract after severing ties with his former club, Al-Ittihad.
