Benhachem: "I Was Forced to Play Ziyech in Midfield; His Strength Lies on the Right Flank, But He Delivered an Acceptable Performance"
Amin Benhachem, coach of Wydad AC, commented on the performance of his player Hakim Ziyech against Maniema Union of Congo, indicating that he was forced to deploy him in midfield due to the absence of Aziz Kei and Zamraoui.
Speaking at the press conference following the 1-0 victory over Maniema in the third round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, Benhachem said: "Ziyech played an acceptable match, and we know he played as a midfielder, but his strength lies when he plays on the right wing."
He continued: "Many matches await us, and Ramiro Vaca will join us, so I will have more options in midfield. Today, Zamraoui and Aziz Kei were unavailable, and I was forced to put Hakim in that position."
He added: "Hakim hasn't played in that position for a while, and I believe his performance was good, especially as it was his first match there. He provided passes and attempted shots. He will show an even better performance match after match, God willing."
